In the EMCL System (Mechanical Evaporation with Heat Recovery in Liquid), evaporation is enhanced by heating the wastewater. This system is more efficient in taking advantage of residual thermal energy, although this does not apply to wastewater with high volatile content, such as leachate from andfills.
The system is modular and the number of evaporators is designed according to the discharge to be treated, the thermal energy available, and the local climate.
It is an evaporative process based on the capacity of the ambient air to absorb water from an effluent. The evaporation capacity is enhanced by recovering residual heat and minimizing dependence on climate conditions (temperature and relative humidity).
It is particularly recommended for making use of residual thermal energy. We have numerous references in the treatment of leachates and wastewater from the Chemical and Agri-food industries.

Our evaporate is a humid air that complies with the most stringent international standards for airborne emissions and air quality.
The temperature, pressure and pH controls of the process, together with the mist elimination system, guarantee an environmentally-friendly evaporate.
The special labyrinth-type design of the droplet separator (demister) guarantees the elimination of virtually all drops from the air outlet.
The double-chamber evaporator morphology, together with the hydraulic distribution of wastewater, complement the efficient separation of droplets.
The concentrate contains the pollutants from wastewater.
We guarantee the minimum concentrate generation, maintaining the maximum treatment capacity with the minimum energy consumption.
We achieve this through the optimal design and combination of the system components.
If the concentrate is not going to be reused in the client’s processes, we can stabilize it for easy disposal.
The wastewater circulation pump and the ambient air fan are the only driving equipment in our wastewater treatment plants.
Energy consumption: 10 – 80 kWh/m3 (1,5 – 12% of latent heat evaporation)
The packing is the physical support where the ambient air and the wastewater come into contact.
It consists of a 3D structured grid with a large specific surface area.
Its design guarantees the best wastewater evaporation performance on the market, with the minimum air resistance.
In our shell and tube exchangers we preheat the effluent by recovering residual heat in the form of hot water, steam or thermal oil from cogeneration engines, biogas boilers, or exo-thermic processes.
